Hi, Justin! I just wanted to tell you how very happy I am with Lexile Match and Mitinet in general. Feel free to quote me!
When I heard at AASL that Mitinet could do Lexile matching for me, I knew that my project of Lexiling my school library was going to be much easier than I anticipated. I had initially begun by doing this by hand and quickly realized what an arduous task this would be.
My school library is in a consortium LIS, though, and I soon discovered Lexiling my library would be tricky. The consortium brass wouldn't allow me to put anything into the MARC records, which is what Mitinet does. I didn't give up, though - all I needed was a PDF list of the books in my collection with their Lexile levels so I could then put the appropriate stickers on books. Mitinet assured me that could be done, so as soon as I got the MARC records, I sent them off for a test run. I had over 50% Lexile match and with Mitinet measures, 70% - certainly high enough to justify the $199 expense. Seriously, this will save me and my paraprofessional hundreds of hours in work.
So with purchase order in hand, I was able to get access to the records themselves. It was a little tricky on Mitinet's end - this wasn't what they normally did - but Chad in technical support was fantastic. When I was unable to get the records to work just right on my end (dang you, Microsoft Windows!), Chad did the work for me and sent me an Excel document which I could sort as I needed. Even better than a PDF!
Lots of librarians can tell you Mitinet does what they say they do - make Lexile numbers go into the MARC records seamlessly. Since I don't have access to my own MARC records, I can't speak to that. But I can tell you that Mitinet is flexible and understanding of client's needs even when it doesn't align to what they normally do. Really, the best decision I've made as a new teacher librarian was talking to Justin at AASL! (Seriously, though - you need to talk to them about giving you a more high profile booth. I almost didn't go down that aisle.)
Thank you so much!

When I came in this morning, I was just thrilled with my new catalogue – for the first time in 4 years, this school has a catalog thanks to updates subject headings and no capitals! I appreciated your patience and good nature in waiting for me to get back to you while classes of students needed my attention.
After telling my husband who well knows of my technology skills, he believes anyone able to guide me through a computer process meanwhile preserving my sanity is a gem indeed! High praise.
I look forward to working with it and introducing it to students.

I just had to let you know that after getting the permissions set to “update only “, I finished the task you helped me start as well as completed another whole batch by myself! Your directions were wonderful and easy to follow. Thank you for your help and patience even though I had to call back twice!
You do great work!
