Registration Limits
Symptom
After entering the access key and clicking OK, you get the message “error saving
registration limits.”
Cause
You do not have the correct access rights to the marcmagician.ini file in the C:\Windows
folder (for Windows 2000, it’s the winnt folder).
Solution
Contact your IT department (or do it yourself if you are able) and have them grant
you modify, read and execute, read, and write rights to the marcmagician.ini file
in C:\windows (for Windows XP) or C:\winnt (for Windows 2000).
Importing MARC on Demand records into MARC Magician
Symptom
You need instructions for importing your AccessMARC records into MARC Magician
. You should only need to do this in order to do global editing or to print cards/labels.
Otherwise, bring the records into your library automation system using the import
instructions provided in AccessMARC.
Solution

Make sure you
have completed the
"Get your records out"
step in MARC on Demand.

Start or switch to MARC Magician .

On the File menu, click Import Records.
The Import window appears.

In the Look in box, select
Local Disk C:.

In the area underneath
the Look in box, double-click the Program Files
folder, then the MARC Wizard
folder
-
Inside the MARC Wizard folder, open the MARC Wizard Data folder
and then open the AccessMARC Data folder (C:\program files\marc
wizard\marc wizard data\accessmarc data).

The file will be named My AccessMARC Collection
_ (date and time).001.
Click the file you want to import. -
Click the Import button to begin importing.

Importing FastMARC
Cataloger records into MARC Magician
Symptom
You need instructions for importing your FastMARC Cataloger records into MARC Magician
. You should only do this if you need to do some global editing or print cards/labels.
Otherwise, bring the records into your library automation system using the import
instructions provided in FastMARC Cataloger.
Solution
- Make sure you have finished the
"Get your records out"
step in FastMARC Cataloger.
- Start or switch to MARC Magician.

On the File menu, click Import Records. The
Import window appears.

In the Look in box, select
Local Disk C:

In the area underneath the Look in box, double-click
the Program Files folder,
then the MARC Wizard folder.

Inside the MARC Wizard
folder, open the MARC Wizard Data folder and then open the
FastMARC Cataloger Data folder (C:\program files\marc wizard\marc wizard
data\fastMARC cataloger data)

The file will be named
MARC Records_(date and time).001.
Click the file you want to import.

Click the
Import button to begin importing.
